Our Mission
Protect MD Votes is a bipartisan grassroots organization dedicated to protecting the voice of every Marylander. Redistricting should reflect the will of the people, not guarantee power to whichever party controls Annapolis. When electoral boundaries are drawn to eliminate real competition and ensure one-party rule, voters become disenfranchised and lose their voices. Protect MD Votes exists to ensure Marylanders understand what is happening to their representation and why it matters, so politicians and partisan gerrymandering cannot silence Marylanders’ voices.

What's Happening and Why It Matters
Politicians in Annapolis want to create the most extreme gerrymandered federal Congressional districts in the nation, but in order to do so, they have to change the Constitution. For over 50 years, language has existed in the Maryland state constitution that calls for fair and compact districts, which is preventing politicians in Annapolis from getting their way and consolidating all power.
This is not about the nation. This is not about any other state. This is about Maryland and what kind of state we want to hand to our children. Changing a half century’s worth of constitutional precedent to amass partisan power and disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of Marylanders is wrong, and every true Marylander knows this.
